Located in the heart of Crépy-en-Valois, Géresme Park stretches across 21 hectares of greenery, offering an idyllic setting for nature lovers and those seeking relaxation. Formerly owned by the Duke of Orléans, this park was acquired by the city in 1974 and opened to the public in 1978. Since then, it has become a haven for biodiversity, recognized by the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO), and a popular spot for walks, picnics, and observing flora and fauna.

The name Géresme first appeared in 1237 to refer to a hamlet attached to Crépy-en-Valois. In 1789, the priory of Géresme was acquired by the Duke of Orléans, then changed hands several times before being bought by the town in 1974.

Géresme Castle, now an integral part of the park, has a rich history, having even served as a holiday camp center after its acquisition by the Houillères du Nord in 1948. The park was officially inaugurated and opened to the public in 1978, providing a space for relaxation and discovery for residents.

Géresme Park is a sanctuary for local wildlife. There are enclosures housing goats and fallow deer, while the park's rivers and ponds are home to a variety of waterfowl such as mute swans, mallards, and geese. Visitors may also encounter red squirrels, red foxes, grey herons, and even frogs. Nesting birds and owls take advantage of the old trees and bushes to rest and nest, providing a fascinating spectacle, especially in spring.

The park's flora is equally remarkable, with ancient and majestic trees such as the bald cypress, the weeping beech, and the black alder. The park is also home to plants such as endangered orchids.

In addition to its natural wealth, Géresme Park is an ideal location for sports and leisure activities. A fitness trail runs through it, allowing visitors to enjoy an invigorating walk while exploring the various areas, from the historic castle to the peaceful rivers, including the washhouse and the chapel dedicated to Saint Yphraise.

Géresme Park is a veritable green haven in the city center, a place where history, nature, and tranquility blend together. Whether for a brisk stroll, a family outing, or a solo getaway, the park offers a calming and revitalizing setting, ideal for contemplation and discovery.
